12/31/2010 Happy New Years Eve!!!!!!

Happy, tired but happy. I woke up in a good mood & have had a great day all together. I have been a busy bee too. I cleaned. Now when I say clean, I don't mean I ran the vacuum & then was done. I mean I ran the vacuum up the stairs, the loft area, the laundry room, the master (including both ceiling fans, tv & the balance) & the bathroom (its easier to get all the lose hair up that way. I shed a lot.) Then I did 5 loads of laundry, I wiped down any horizontal place I could find. dusted the book shelf, scrubbed out the bathroom, swept the kitchen, did two loads of dished (ok, so I have a dishwasher, I still had to load & unload it.). Then Clay asked if I wanted tacos & to stop by the liquor store. I got a bottle of middle sister. Yum.

When we got home my Da called & tried to guilt trip me into calling my Mother. Its their anniversary, 5:30pm & I still had not called my Mother. Bad child bad. I was going to call after dinner. Sigh. I called my mother to listen to her for 20mins only to be told she had to go with as much enthusiasm as she could muster, Happy New Years! & I love you. I love you too Mom & happy new years & Happy anniversary. Click....... Ya, I called why???? Oh, ya, so I could plant 6 plants while talking to her. Multitasking or avoidance your call.

As soon as I set the phone down my sister text me. She is getting married & their doing it in Vegas. I text back that I didn't think I could go & that our bother, whom is about to be a Da probably would not be able to ether. I added after a moments thought that I was not trying to be rude or snarky & that this was her wedding & do what she wanted to do because its not about us but about her. She called me then. She said that she knew I was not being mean, but was upset that I would not be able to go. I explained that Clay hates Vegas under principles & that we are moving in March so all our money will probably be going towards that. I then had a brain wave & suggested the Bahamas. She thought about that for a min & asked Mike what he thought. He agreed it was a good idea. I told her that I would look into it & get back to her with what deals I could find she agreed with a detached tone. I was slightly hurt but quickly let it slide with thoughts of her planing in her head she was just distracted.

Pear bread

I have out done myself to day. I made two loafs of bread. banana bread & pear bread. I use a Banana bread recipe out of Clay's family cook book with my own twist to it. Its originally my mother-in-law's recipe.
  • 1c sugar
  • 1/3c butter
  • 1/3c butter flavored Shortening (Its all about the melting point.)
  • 2eggs
  • 2c four
  • 2ts backing soda
  • 1tb vanilla
  • 4tb milk
  • 5 ripe bananas that have been frozen & then thawed
Cream the butter & shortening till light in color & fluffy. Added the sugar & cream till fluffy again. Add the eggs one at a time waiting till they are incorporated & scrapping down the bowl. Add the vanilla & then the flour, scrapping down the bowl & waiting till each cup is incorporated.  Add the milk & the bananas. Mix for 3-4mins.
Cook on 325 for 60mins or till a tooth pick comes out clean.  Cool in the pan.

Adaptation: To make Pear bread instead of the bananas add 1/2c of pears & 1/4c pear syrup. Its light fluffy bread that is great with coffee.
