I have just spent my day scrubbing at my uncles. Ouch! I cut my fingers twice cleaning & I think I need a gallon of lotion to repair the damage I did to my poor hands, but it was worth it to spend time with my family. I love them so, but boy am I tired.

I tried to wake Clay up three times & each time he asked me for 5 more mins. just 5 min mins. LOL! Poor thing did not sleep well last night & neither did I.  I have been having an issue with staying asleep once I get to sleep. I have tried everything to stay asleep & nothing has worked so far. I think I might just have to go back on the sleeping pills, but I hate them. I don't dream when I talk them & I am so dead to the world the next morning I over sleep. Maybe I can find a remedy that non chemical some where, (going to have to research that).

Oh! Before I slip off to sleep I found this great recipe & I thought I would share it.

Banana Bread Oatmeal

Ingredients
  • 3  cups fat-free milk
  • 3  tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4  teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4  teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1/4  teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2  cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
  • 1  cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)
  • 2  tablespoons coarsely chopped toasted pecans
  •   Plain or vanilla nonfat yogurt (optional)
  •   Banana slices (optional)
  •   Pecan halves (optional)
 Preparation
In medium saucepan, bring milk, sugar, salt and spices to gentle boil (watch carefully); stir in oats. Return to boil; reduce heat to medium. Cook 1 minute for quick oats, 5 minutes for old fashioned oats or until most of liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
Remove oatmeal from heat. Stir in mashed bananas and pecans. Spoon oatmeal into six cereal bowls. Top with yogurt, sliced bananas and pecan halves, if desired.
  • Prep Time: 10 min
  • Cook Time Time: 01 hours 05 min

Cook’s Notes

To toast pecans, spread evenly in shallow baking pan. Bake at 350°F 5 to 7 minutes or until light golden brown. Or, spread nuts evenly on microwave-safe plate. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute; stir. Continue to microwave on HIGH, checking every 30 seconds, until nuts are fragrant and brown.

  1. Here are some things that I tried during the height of my insomnia days..

    Catnip tea before bed
Valerian tea before bed (one or the other, not both together)

Meletonin - not as harsh as sleeping pills.

Cover up any mirrors in your bedroom.

Make sure your room is dark dark dark, so if need be, get an eyemask. (I got one from Bucky's and I love it)

I hope that you are able to get some sweet dreams soon. *squish*

  2. I am getting there. Its helped now that I have been able to get Hank to sleep in his own bed, (yes my 150lb bullmastive has his own bed.) I just have to get back into the sleep cycle that I was when I worked days. I have been staying up late & sleeping till past noon. So not going to work now.
I have tried Meletonin & it was not as bad. I forgot about it. I will have to try it again. Thanks!
